Projects
Project members
Add team members to a project and manage their project roles.
What is it?
Project members are team members who can access a specific project. Roles are Owner, Admin, and Member.
Membership lets you open the right initiative to the right people without exposing every project on the team.
Requirements
- The person must already be a team member.
- You need project permission to add, update, or remove members (Owner or Admin).
How to add a project member
Open Project Settings
Use the project switcher → Project Settings, or the project edit page.
Add from available team members
Choose a person from available team members and assign a role (Admin or Member).
Confirm
Save. You should see confirmation such as “Member added.”
How to change or remove a member
From project members:
- Change their role with the role control.
- Remove them when they no longer need access.
Permissions
| Role on project | Can manage members |
|---|---|
| Owner | Yes |
| Admin | Yes |
| Member | No |
Project Members can still use the project and add knowledge notes, but cannot change membership or project settings.
Expected behavior
- Only people already on the team appear as available to add.
- There are no project-level invitation emails. Invite to the team first.
Common mistakes
- Trying to invite someone by email from project settings (use team invitations).
- Expecting team join to auto-add every project.
