Getting started
Onboarding
Walk through Clankee onboarding from welcome to Discord bot invite.
What is it?
Onboarding is a guided setup that runs the first time you use Clankee. It walks you through creating a project, optionally connecting tools, and linking Discord — so you can start asking questions and running work without hunting through settings.
When to use it
You are redirected into onboarding until you finish the required steps. You can skip optional steps.
Prerequisites
- A Clankee account
- For Discord: permission to manage a Discord server you want to connect
Complete walkthrough
1. Welcome (Meet Clankee)
Read the intro and choose Get started.
2. Create a team (optional)
- Enter a Team name and choose Create team, or continue with your personal team.
- If you create a shared team, an invite step appears next.
3. Invite your team (optional)
Only shown after you create a shared team.
- Enter an Email address and choose a Role.
- Choose Send invitation, or Continue without inviting.
4. Create a project (required)
- Enter a Project name.
- Optionally add a Description.
- Choose Create project.
5. Connect your data sources (optional)
Search and connect integrations, or choose Skip for now / Continue to workspace.
6. Add your workspace (required)
- Choose Discord.
- Choose Connect with Discord and authorize.
- Select a Discord server and choose Connect server.
Slack and Microsoft Teams show as Coming soon and cannot be connected yet.
7. Invite Clankee to Discord (required)
- Choose Invite Clankee to Discord and add the bot in Discord.
- Return to Clankee and choose I've added Clankee.
8. You're all set
Choose Go to dashboard to open your project.
Possible outcomes
- You land on the project dashboard with a connected Discord workspace.
- If you skipped integrations, you can connect them later from Integrations.
- Connecting Discord may start a Discord knowledge sync in the background.
Common mistakes
- Selecting a Discord server you cannot manage (you need Manage Server permission).
- Confirming the bot step before the bot is actually invited to the server.
- Trying to finish without creating a project or connecting a Discord workspace.
Troubleshooting
- No servers listed: make sure you have Manage Server on at least one Discord server, then reconnect.
- Already connected: a Discord server can only be connected once per project. See Discord troubleshooting.
